1.                  Any successful single nutrient diet (low fat or low carbohydrate) will eventually create a new food market in the food industry’s attempt to meet the changes.  This often leads to misleading statements and too much dependence on foods that have been adjusted to go along with these trends.  Our goal is to see you through these on and off changes to ensure that you lose your weight and keep it off.
 
We have seen major changes in diets in the last two decades.  Low fat dieting was all the rage for years, but with seemingly every food have a low fat choice, people began to feel that they could eat all of the fat free foods they wished.  As you know, they often began to gain weight.  Toda, it seems like you cannot go or do anything without running into low carbohydrate foods. I have run into a problem trying to help people maintain their loss after being on a low carbohydrate diet like Atkins.  I will agree that rapid weight loss is very possible, but it also develops some bad eating habits that, if not maintained under the strict guidelines of the Atkins program, can lead to a lifetime of eating more fat than is healthy. 3.                  Behavior modification is critical but behaviors such as counting fats, carbohydrates, or even calories is usually short term and if relied upon can allow a person to fail in maintenance as they naturally shift away from counting.

It is inevitable that you will have to read labels and pay attention to serving sizes and the nutritional breakdown of the food.  You will even have to count things on occasion on any diet. However, a diet that relies on counting will not work long term, for most people, and you need to make sure that you are learning about food and food choices as well.

4.                  All diets require work, THERE IS NO MAGIC, but with some effort and support, you will be able to reach your goals.
